Investigators Seek Information About Armed Robbery That Occurred on Monday Night

Per Takoma Park Police: On September 5, at approximately 9:53 pm, Takoma Park Police responded to the intersection of Hammond Avenue and Anne Street for the report of an armed robbery.

The victim was walking towards University Boulevard on Anne Street when he was approached by two male suspects who pushed him to the ground and demanded property. The victim observed both suspects pointing handguns at him and ordering him not to look at them. The victim complied and gave the suspects his property. The two suspects fled south westbound on Anne Street to a waiting black 4-door sedan (unknown tags) that fled north westbound on Kennewick Avenue toward Lockney Avenue.

Ding Tea in Rockville Available for Sale with a $650K Asking Price

Ding Tea opened in January 2020 at Ritchie Plaza next to Kiim Imm Thai restaurant (785 Rockville Pike). According to a listing, the bubble tea shop is now available for sale and can be purchased for $650,000. It is the only Ding Tea franchise in the state of Maryland.

Per the listing, the shop is being sold due to the owner moving out of state. There is currently 2 years left on the lease, with an option for an additional 5 years. Everything in the store would be included in the purchase of the store, which touts “no competition” since it’s the only Ding Tea store in the area.

Flood Warning Until 11:30am in Parts of Montgomery County

There’s a flood warning in effect for parts of Montgomery County until 11:30am Tuesday morning. Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected in portions of central Maryland and north central Maryland, including the following counties: in central Maryland, Howard and Montgomery.

Between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Some locations that will experience flooding include, Germantown, Frederick, Rockville, Gaithersburg, Leesburg, Olney, Westminster, Damascus, Lowes Island, Poolesville, Aspen Hill, Potomac, North Bethesda, Montgomery Village, North Potomac, Ballenger Creek, Redland, Great Falls, Mount Airy, and Walkersville.

Downtown Silver Spring

Kusshi Plans to Open Downtown Silver Spring Location in Coming Weeks

Back in September 2021 we let you know that Kusshi, a popular sushi restaurant in Pike & Rose, would be opening a new location called Kusshi.ko in Downtown Silver Spring, taking over the location that was formerly occupied by Gusto in Downtown Silver Spring (8512 Fenton Street). The restaurant has since dropped the “ko” from its name, but we are told the restaurant could open in as little as two weeks.

The restaurant dropped the “ko” from its name due to approval issues with the signage and will now be going by the Kusshi name going forward. This location will have a similar, but slightly more limited, menu as Kusshi in Pike & Rose. We are told it will definitely have all of the sushi items.

Germantown

Vocelli Pizza in Germantown Available for Sale

Vocelli Pizza, which has operated at 12311 Middlebrook Rd in Germantown since 2006, is available for sale. According the listing, the asking price for the franchise is $125,000.

The current lease of the store is up in February 2023 and, according to the listing, potential new owners can extend the lease with the current landlord or come to terms on a new lease. There are additional Montgomery County Vocelli Pizza locations in Cloverly (730 Cloverly St) and Rockville (1331-a Rockville Pike).

Miller’s Ale House To Close Permanently on Sunday, September 25th

Back in July we let you know that Miller’s Ale House would be closing permanently on Sunday, September 25th, after approximately a decade at 1471 Rockville Pike in Rockville. This evening we were told that the restaurant expects to operate at 100% until the last day. The location was previously home to Hooters before it moved across the Pike (and later closed) and Shakey’s before that. Miller’s Ale House is a Florida-based American restaurant and sports bar chain that was founded in 1988. The restaurant serves steaks, chicken, burgers, salads, seafood, and more. Though most of their locations are in Florida (over 50), there are over 30 other locations open across the east coast. Miller’s Ale House has nearby locations in Hyattsville and Sterling, VA locations.

Bun’d Up Has Closed Its Pike & Rose Location

Bun’d Up has closed its location in The Block at Pike & Rose after a little over a year and a half. Bun’d Up opened it’s Pike & Rose location in January of 2021and is known for putting a “modern, Korean twist on the original Taiwanese “gua bao” with handmade buns, local produce, and sustainably raised meat from Springfield Farm.” The location closed a earlier in September, according to a representative from The Block. We were told a replacement hasn’t been named yet, but one is likely to take over in the coming weeks.

Bun’d Up is still available in the DMV at Pentagon Row in Arlington and Union Station in DC. You can also still get your buns in MoCo on Saturdays between 9am and 1:30pm at the Pike Central Farm Market in Pike & Rose and at the Bethesda Central Farm Market on Sundays between 9am and 1:30pm at 7600 Arlington Rd.

Laytonsville

House Party With Over 600 Tickets Sold Prevented From Taking Place Sunday in Laytonsville

A large house party that had sold over 600 tickets and was scheduled to take place Sunday night in Laytonsville was cancelled after the owners of the home became aware of the event and alerted Montgomery County Police. According to a Tiktok video that was promoting the event, it promised to be the “DMV’s Biggest Mansion Pool Party” and was taking place on over “3+ acres of land” with “10+ security guards.” MCPD sent out a notice to the community on Sunday afternoon, stating “An event scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 4 in the 5900 block of Sundown Rd. in Laytonsville, has been cancelled. Montgomery County Police will be present and are advising attendees to stay away from the area and contact event organizers for a refund.”

According to MCPD. “the event organizers had rented the house for what was supposed to be a private party, but they posted on social media and sold tickets to the party. Over 600 people purchased tickets. The owners of the home became aware of it, cancelled the event and made police aware of what was happening.”

Update: Adult Male Arrested and Charged in Connection With Rockville Stabbings – Victim’s Name Released

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division have arrested and charged 31-year-old Scorpio Alexander Standfield (unknown address) with two separate stabbings; one a homicide, that occurred on Saturday, September 3, 2022, on Hungerford Dr. in Rockville.

Sarah Langenkamp Was Tragically Killed Riding Her Bike Home From Her Son’s Elementary School on August 25th; Her Husband Has Raised Over $220K for Safer Streets Since Her Death

Sarah Langenkamp was a U.S. Diplomat with the State Department for 17 years. Langenkamp was the mother of two young children and had recently relocated to Bethesda with her husband, Dan Langenkamp, and their two sons. In an interview with The Washington Post, Dan Langenkamp stated, “We returned to the United States for our safety. She was supposed to be safe, and to me, it is absolutely unconscionable that she would be safer in Ukraine than she would be on streets in the Washington metro area.”

On Thursday, August 25th, Sarah Joan Langenkamp was killed when she was struck by a flatbed truck at approximately 4:05 p.m. on River Road in Bethesda as she was riding home form her son’s elementary school. A preliminary investigation by detectives with the Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) revealed that both the driver of a red 2014 Volvo D13 flatbed truck and the bicyclist were traveling east on River Rd. 42-year-old Sarah Joan Langenkamp was in the bicycle lane when the Volvo turned right into the parking lot of 5244 River Rd. and struck Langenkamp, who was run over by the truck. Langenkamp was pronounced dead on scene.
