Dogfish Head Alehouse announced that it will be closing its Falls Church, VA location at 6220 Leesburg Pike in the Seven Corners Shopping Center.  The restaurant says it was unable to come to terms with the property owner when it came time to renew its lease.  The last day of service will be on May 15.

The Dogfish Alehouse locations at 800 W. Diamond Ave in Gaithersburg and 13041 Lee Jackson Memorial Hwy in Fairfax, VA will remain open.

Compost Crew, the Rockville-based largest food scrap recycling company in the Mid-Atlantic, announced the closing of an oversubscribed $5.5M Series A investment to help propel the growth of composting in the greater Washington, D.C.metropolitan area and beyond.


Bethesda

Dr. William Dahut, a Bethesda resident who is also a professor of medicine at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, has been named Chief Scientific Officer for the American Cancer Society.

Former Maryland Governor Parris Glendening has endorsed Hans Riemer for Montgomery County Executive. Glendening, a Democrat, served as the 59th Governor of Maryland from January 18, 1995, to January 15, 2003. Previously, he was the County Executive of Prince George’s County from 1982 to 1994.

Update: The indoor portion/lobby of Starbucks has reopened but the drive-thru remains closed at this time.

Monday, April 18: The Starbucks at 160 Kentlands Blvd in Gaithersburg is temporarily closed. We were told by a representative from the store that there was an issue with their computers and registers, and that they hope to be open tomorrow.
