Montgomery County Fire and Rescue responded to a fire at the Diamond Auto Clinic located at 110 E Diamond Ave in Gaithersburg around 6pm on Saturday, April 16.
Firefighters arrived to heavy fire conditions and a partial roof colapse, according to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer. The fire originated in a vehicle in the shop’s repair bay.
Republican Shelly Skolnick, 78, of Friendship Heights, has announced he will be running for Montgomery County Executive.
Skolnick previously ran for election to the U.S. House to represent Maryland’s 8th Congressional District in 2012, 2016, and 2020, and for an at-large seat on the Montgomery County Council in 2006, 2014, and 2018.

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police Major Crimes Division are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying suspects involved in a home invasion where a 57-year-old woman was shot.

10th grade students Nick Bourg, Maggie Megosh, & Trini Szell from Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, Maryland won 2nd Prize for their documentary on the Federal Trade Commission, the California Consumer Privacy Act, and big tech data collection, “In Google We Trust.” As 2nd Prize winners, the trio has won $1,500 in prize money.
The 2022 grand prize winners are siblings Tyler and Dermott Foley, students at Eastern Middle School in Silver Spring, Maryland, where C-SPAN is available through its partner Comcast. The Foleys will receive $5,000 for the documentary, “What Happened to Gibson Grove?” about highways, racial injustice and the fight to save America’s Black cemeteries. This documentary will air on C-SPAN at 6:50 a.m. ET and throughout the day April 21.
A person of interest has been detained after allegedly setting a small fire during a domestic dispute on the 1200 block of East West Highway in Silver Spring.
According to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue PIO Pete Piringer, units were dispatched to the Silverton condominiums in Silver Spring last night after reports of a fire on the fourth floor and the activation of the fire alarm.
