Dog Returns To ‘Sniffers Doggie Retreat’ Two Days After Escaping When Car Crashed Into the Building

On Thursday afternoon Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a call for a “vehicle into a building” For reasons unknown, a driver and their car ended up approximately 30 feet into Sniffers Doggie Retreat at 7300 Westmore Rd (opposite side of Montgomery College on 355) in Rockville around 4:30pm.

According to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, there were no injuries, but two dogs ended up getting loose following the crash. One was found soon after the crash, but another dog remained missing until Saturday morning when Sniffers reported that the dog walked up to the facility’s front door. There were no injuries during the crash, and the doggie retreat is now focusing on rebuilding. The full message from Sniffers Doggie Retreat below:

“We are beyond happy to report that as our opening staff arrived at Sniffers this morning, our little runner walked right up to our front door. The door was opened for her and she walked right in. She’s happy and tail-wagging!
We’d like to thank everyone for the outpouring of support during the past couple of days. We’ve gotten calls, texts, emails, visits and even food dropped off for our staff. This entire event has been incredibly stressful for us. As one of the owners of SNIFFERS, I can say on behalf of both of us, we are extremely proud of our team and the lengths they have gone to both in helping to search for our missing dogs and to do their very best to make sure the the dogs that are with us get the best care even immediately after a traumatic event.

Now that we know that all dogs and humans are safe, we can shift our focus to rebuilding. We have always tried to turn negative events into a learning experience and a chance to be better. This will be no different! We will be updating our clients via email with changes for the coming weeks but expect to be open for all services as usual on Monday. We will be using our training lobby until things have been repaired.

Again, we thank you all for being so supportive! Give your dogs some love from us!!”
