Approximately 65 Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) firefighters responded to the 16,700blk of Alexander Manor Drive, off Ednor Road in Sandy Spring on Thursday, December 21 for the report of a house fire.
According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, the fire, which was caused by batteries for handheld tools being charged, started in the home’s garage and extended to attic. Five adults and two pets have been displaced and there were no injuries reported. Damage is estimated to be $1,000,000.
Piringer reports that a smoke alarm alerted the occupant that was home and that neighbors helped get the pets to safety.
