Update: Detectives Investigating Veirs Mill Road Pedestrian Fatality; Victim’s Identity Released


Per MCPD: “Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a pedestrian fatality that occurred on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, in the area of Veirs Mill Road and Atlantic Avenue.  

At approximately 6:50 p.m., Rockville City Police officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel were dispatched to the location for the report of a pedestrian collision.

The investigation has determined that an adult female was crossing Veirs Mill Road at Atlantic Avenue when she was struck by a Toyota Supra and Toyota Prius that were traveling eastbound on Veirs Mill Road.

The drivers of the Toyota Supra and Toyota Prius remained at the scene. After life-saving measures were unsuccessful, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The decedent has been identified as 70-year-old Teresa Moreno De Mejia, of Rockville.

Detectives are no longer looking for a third vehicle after determining that the pedestrian was struck only by the Toyota Supra and Toyota Prius.
