Update: The home has been donated to the American Cancer Society

A little more than a month since the one year anniversary of Washington Commanders owner Dan Snyder putting his 30,000 SF home at 11900 River Rd. is Potomac up for sale– the house was pulled from the market and donated to the American Cancer Society. The home was initially listed at $49 million, which would have been a DMV record if it sold for the asking price. In August 2023, the home listing showed that the asking price dropped by 28.8% and is currently at $34.9 million.

The home was listed by Heather Corey and Michael Rankin of TTR Sotheby’s International Realty and has five bedrooms and eight bathrooms spread across 30,000 SF. The French-style single family home sits on a lot size of just over 9.6 acres and is located in Potomac. It was most recently listed at a price of $1,163 per square foot, with an annual tax $204,407 (almost $80k more than the $125,583 median household income in Montgomery County). We reached out to the listing agents regarding the home being pulled and did not receive a response, however, it has since been revealed that the home was donated to the American Cancer Society.

Back in November 2021, we reported that the $48 million sale of River View (7979 E. Boulevard Drive in Alexandria, VA)- a 16,000 square foot home with an additional carriage home had set a new record for the most expensive home sale in DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) history. The home was bought by Montgomery County native and then-owner of the Washington Commanders, Dan Snyder, for $48 million. It appears the initial goal (prior to the drop in price) of the Potomac home sale was to recoup they money spent on the River View home, but did not work out as expected with the house on the market for more than a year before being pulled.
