Statement from County Executive Marc Elrich on Support of Negotiated Compensation Agreements by Montgomery County Council and Labor Parties

Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich issued the following statement on Tuesday, April 30:
“I want to thank the County Council for unanimously supporting the compensation agreements that were negotiated between the County with our three labor partners, United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1994 Municipal and County Government Employee Organization Local (MCGEO), Montgomery County Career Firefighters Association IAFF Local 1664 and Montgomery County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 35.

Our hard-working, dedicated County government workforce provides outstanding services to our residents, businesses, and visitors each and every day. I am pleased that the Council concurs with my belief that we need to fairly compensate our employees. They are essential to enabling us to deliver the critical services our residents need and deserve, and these contracts are a recognition of our staff’s important work.”
