Downtown Crown in Transition With Upcoming Openings and a Closure

Downtown Crown in Gaithersburg continues to evolve after a period of vacancies approximately a decade after the development opened. Here’s a look at an upcoming closure, recent openings, and upcoming arrivals that are reshaping the scene:

Upcoming Closure:

  • After more than a decade serving the Gaithersburg community, Ted’s Montana Grill has announced it will permanently close its Downtown Crown location on January 4th, citing the end of its lease. The restaurant invited the community to stop by one last time to share a meal or a toast before it closes its doors for good. More here.

Recent Openings

  • Sixty Vines has opened, bringing its signature wine-on-tap concept and seasonal American fare to the area, offering a spacious, communal dining experience. More here.
  • The Crepe Shoppe also opened recently, featuring sweet and savory crepes and adding a casual, dessert-friendly option to the mix. More here.
  • Rowan, a piercing studio staffed by licensed nurses, is now open.  The new studio is located between Ideal Image and Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse. Rowan specializes in ear piercings and offers a variety of styles, including hoops, studs, charms, threaders, cuffs, and more.. More here.

Coming Soon

  • El Guero Mexicano (formerly Taco Bar El Guero) was aiming to open in October or November, but inspections took a little longer than anticipated. The restaurant is expected to open in the coming weeks. More here.
  • Kitchen Social has signed on to take over the former space of Paladar Latin Kitchen & Rum Bar. This new concept will mark Kitchen Social’s first Maryland location and bring a scratch-made comfort food menu with a lively bar atmosphere. Coming soon signage is now up.
