Amazon Grocery Stores Moving in to MoCo

Back in September we let you know that an Amazon grocery store would be taking the place of Office Depot on Shady Grove Road in Gaithersburg.

Now we know that Amazon is also likely moving in to the old Giant spot that was part of The Collection at Chevy Chase.

Based on an NBC4 report, Amazon is making major moves in the DC area with Amazon Go and Amazon Fresh grocery stores.

The Gaithersburg store is expected to be an Amazon Fresh store, which is similar to the grocery stores we’re used to with a few differences that may attract customers.

Amazon Fresh stores offer package pick-up and package-less product returns. They also have Alexa to help with any questions a customer may have “Alexa, where is the apple juice?”and the ability for customers who don’t have much shopping to do to use a Dash Cart that allows you to bypass checking out the traditional way.
