A Gaithersburg favorite is getting ready for a new chapter. Taco Bar El Güero, which closed its longtime home inside the Shell station at 10003 B Fields Rd earlier this month, is preparing to open its new restaurant in Downtown Crown this November. The upcoming location, at 200 Ellington Avenue, will take over the space that previously housed BurgerIM and Smashburger (sneak peek available below).
As part of the move, the restaurant will rebrand as El Güero Mexicano, but the Valdivia family, who founded and operate the business, assures customers that the heart of the restaurant will remain the same. Diners can look forward to the same menu and pricing, the return of the popular salsa bar, and an expanded breakfast lineup featuring new morning specialties.
While the attached beer and wine store from the Fields Road location won’t be part of the move, the new Downtown Crown restaurant will include beer and wine service, as well as a tequila-only cocktail menu designed to complement its authentic Mexican cuisine.
The previous Taco Bar space is currently being transformed into a 7-Eleven convenience store, with an opening expected in the coming weeks.
