New Tenants Sign On To Replace Junction Bistro and The Hunter’s Hound in Chevy Chase

Two new restaurants from Metropolitan Hospitality Group (MHG) are expected to open at The Collection at Chevy Chase in the fourth quarter of 2026, marking the locally owned restaurant group’s first expansion into Maryland. They’ll be replacing the recently closed Junction Bistro, Bar, and Bakery and The Hunter’s Hound.

According to an announcement from CCLC, MHG will open Open Road at 5471 Wisconsin Avenue in Friendship Heights. The American restaurant and gathering place will feature a nautical twist at its Chevy Chase location.

Joining Open Road will be Cove, an entirely new all-day cafe and wine bar making its debut at The Collection. Additional details about the menus and exact opening dates were not included in the announcement.

“We have been thoughtful about where and how MHG would make its first move into Maryland, and Friendship Heights immediately stood out,” said Matthew Carlin, president of MHG. “It is an established community with a strong sense of place, excellent connectivity and residents who value quality dining and genuine hospitality.”

Founded in 2005, MHG opened its first restaurant, CIRCA at Dupont, in 2007. Its portfolio now includes Open Road, Él Bebe, TRIO Grill, SALT, Heirloom and Open Road Distilling Co., with an existing footprint in D.C. and Northern Virginia.

John Ziegenhein, president and CEO of CCLC, said the two concepts will bring new dining experiences to The Collection and help support its long-term investment in the Friendship Heights community.
