Wednesday Morning Update: Winter Weather Advisory

A winter weather advisory is in effect from 7pm this evening until 10am Thursday morning. 1-3 inches of snow is expected during this time.

The National Weather Service has lowered forecasted totals for MoCo, as most of the county is now in the 3-4” range for the duration of the storm (which goes until Friday afternoon). The high end scenario (10% chance) shows up to 7 inches and the low end scenario (10% chance) shows as little as 1-2 inches.

This is still a two part storm. Many are expecting part one to drop between 1-3” overnight into Thursday morning. Snow is expected to stop for a period and restart on Thursday evening into Friday morning.

At this time, it looks like round two will have a greater impact south of DC, which isn’t a good thing for snow lovers in MoCo.

WUSA9 has MoCo in the 1-3” range for part one of the storm.

Fox 5 has put out some graphics for each part of the storm.

Right now, there’s more confidence in the first part of the storm. They have the first part dropping 2-4” inches on us and part two dropping a coating to 2” in MoCo for a total of 3-6 inches when all is said and done Friday morning.

We’ll try to have one final update for you this evening before things get started.
