There will be a non-perishable food distribution at King of the Nations church, located at 10400 Darnestown Rd. in a Rockville.
The event will take place from noon until 2pm, or until supplies last. Anyone who needs food is able to stop by and pick it up between those hours.
Some grew up with the Maryland Soccerplex being there as far back as they can remember, but for those of us who were around and remember the times before 1999, we know that something else was there before. In 1913 James King purchased a 350 acre farm in between Germantown and Boyds, Maryland from the Lyddane family, and moved in with his new bride, Macie. Over time, as their family grew, the farm flourished as part of the dairy boom that brought wealth to Montgomery County in the Twentieth Century.
Baltimore-based Charm City Run is opening its first Montgomery County location in the former Fleet Feet location at 225 Kentlands Blvd in Gaithersburg (Fleet Feet has since reopened in a different Kentlands location). The grand opening is scheduled for the first week in June with updates of progress in the coming weeks.

Back in February we let you know that My Big Finds, which offers unique gifts, one-of-a-kind decorative accents, vintage and reclaimed furniture and more, had signed a lease to move into 129 Commerce Square Place in the recently built paseo in the Kentlands neighborhood of Gaithersburg.
The hope was to open by Mother’s Day and it looks like the small, locally-owned business has made it happen with a grand opening celebration that will take place on Friday, May 6th (7pm-9pm) and Saturday, May 7th (11:30am-6pm).
Back in February we let you know of the Montrose Crossing Burlington’s opening date of April 22nd. The store is now completing a couple friends and family events and will be holding its Grand Opening tomorrow (Friday, April 22).
Burlington, an off-price department store retailer, has taken over the old Barnes & Noble Location at 12055 Rockville Pike in the Montrose Crossing shopping center. Barnes & Noble moved to Congressional Plaza this past August.
UMBC students are going to appear on Amazon Prime’s ‘The College Tour.’
The show, which will premiere on Amazon Prime on April 28th will feature several students from Montgomery County:
Arvin Kim, a junior at Walt Whitman High School, has been elected the Student Member of the Board of Education (SMOB) for the 2022-2023 school year. Mr. Kim’s term begins on July 1, 2022.
Per MCPS:
Tara Thai, located at 9811 Washingtonian Blvd L9 in Gaithersburg’s Rio Lakefront, has been listed as temporarily closed on Google for a few months now. The Tara Thai website still states “We are closed due to the plumbing problem”, but today we received confirmation from Rio that the restaurant has permanently closed.
Tara Thai has additional Montgomery County locations at Bethesda’s Montgomery Mall and in Rockville’s Montrose Crossing, and other locations in neighboring counties. The Rio restaurant has been open for over 20 years. The location, which has a patio overlooking the lake and offers one of the few places in Montgomery County you can “eat on the water”, is already very close to being leased. We will have an update as soon as we are able to get confirmation on the restaurant replacing tara Thai.
We’ve had a small streak of cooler days, but things should get a little more comfortable today as highs are expected to hover around 60° with plenty of sunshine.
Each day this week should get warmer with Thursday expected to get to the low/mid 60s with a mix of clouds and sun and a small chance of rain.
Bethesda Vapor Company has announced via its social media that it will be closing permanently at the end of this month (April 2022).
It has been located at 4823 Fairmont Ave. in Bethesda since 2014 and per its instagram account offers “the best E-juice, WaterPipes, CBD & Handpipes.”
