Alex Flum of WDVM reports that Rory McIlroy, currently ranked 7th in the world, will compete in the Wells Fargo Championship at TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm in May.

McIlroy is coming off of a second place finish at the Masters, where he finished 3 strokes behind winner Scottie Scheffler.


Potomac

Back in November we let you know that The Pretzel Bakery, which opened it’s DC location at 257 15th Street SE in DC back in 2012, was coming to Cabin John Village in Potomac. The bakery is located in the space formerly occupied by the Hair Cuttery at 7961 Tuckerman Ln. According to its website, the Pretzel Bakery serves small batch, hand-rolled, Philadelphia-style soft pretzels fresh-out-of-the-oven all day.  In addition to traditional pretzels, they also sell pretzel dogs, pretzel calzones, stuffed pretzel “bombs”, and pretzel sliders.

Bethesda

KID Museum will open in its new flagship site at Bethesda Metro Center — a brand new, 28,000 square foot facility “created to foster the “Mind of a Maker” and empower the next generation with the skills to invent the future.” The grand opening event will take place on May 22, 2022 at 3 Bethesda Metro Center, Suite 140.

The state-of-the-art makerspace is purpose-built for kids ages 4-14 to explore coding, robotics, engineering design, and hands-on maker learning, with the capacity to welcome more than 100,000 visitors every year. There will be grand opening events, becoming a member, or sponsoring us to help all kids discover a love of exploring, creating, and collaborating to become makers of the future. Tickets for the grand opening event must be pre-purchased and cost $15. Drop-in tickets will not be available for this event.


MCPS

Demeioun Robinson, a 6’4, 250 pound Edge who graduated from Quince Orchard High School, announced on March 28th that he would be entering the transfer portal. Earlier this week he announced that he will be transferring to Penn State University, via social media.

Robinson, who was a highly sought after recruit coming out of high school, has three seasons of eligibility remaining after playing in 13 games for the Terrapins. He had 13 tackles, 2 sacks, and 2.5 tackles for a loss as a true freshman.

(the “Fund”). The Fund, which targets investments in the North American power sector as the economy electrifies and decarbonizes, was oversubscribed and closed at its hard cap of $1.125 billion. Hull Street Energy received strong interest from a diverse and highly regarded group of institutional investors, including endowments, foundations, insurance companies, leading consultants, pension plans, funds of funds and family offices.

Hughes ground system to enable 100 Gbps on the Nusantara Lima satellite to help bridge the digital divide

Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES), a Germantown-based innovator in satellite and multi-transport technologies and networks for 50 years, announced that PT Pasifik Satelit Nusantara (PSN), the oldest private telecommunication and information service provider in Indonesia, selected the Hughes JUPITER™ System to enable services on the Nusantara Lima very high-throughput satellite.


Gaithersburg

Actress Devika Parikh is perhaps best known for her recurring role as Bonnie in the NBC political drama series The West Wing (1999 to 2003) or her current role as Melanie Pierce on OWN Network’s new family drama The Kings of Napa, but did you know she was raised in Gaithersburg?

Parikh was born in Massachusetts, but moved to Gaithersburg  with her family in her younger years. She is of Indian and African American origin, born to an East Indian father (from Bombay, India) and an African-American mother. She attended and graduated from Seneca Valley High School where she was the school’s first African-American Homecoming Queen and was voted “Best Personality” and “Most School Spirited.”

Coming off of a warm day where temperatures hovered around 80°, today is expected to be the warmest day of the year so far with temperatures reaching the low to mid 80s for many of us.

Temperatures are expected to be in the 60s by 8am, 70s by 11am and into the 80s this afternoon with the “real feel” a few degrees warmer. Skies are expected to be sunny with a few clouds mixing in.


Beyond MoCo

Just a day after it was announced that the Lerner family is exploring the possibility of selling the Washington Nationals franchise, the Baltimore Orioles have announced that the Maryland State legislature passed a historic initiative committing $1.2 billion in public funding from the State of Maryland for reinvestment in and reimagination of the Camden Yards Sports Complex.

This would be the second largest public commitment of funding to a Major League Baseball public-private sports partnership, second only to the 2009 construction of the new Yankee Stadium.


Bethesda

Alex Bensahel, the director of the Investment Sales Division for the Mid-Atlantic Group of Eastern Union, has arranged the $7.9-million sale of a 48-unit apartment portfolio in Takoma Park, MD, a city located about six-and-a-half miles northeast of Washington, DC.

The Mid-Atlantic Group is based in the Bethesda, MD office of Eastern Union, a national commercial real estate firm that provides both capital markets advisory services and financing services.
