Montgomery Parks

Parks to host a variety of volunteer service projects during Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend. 

WHEATON, Md. –Montgomery Parks is hosting a series of volunteer opportunities in honor of the 2022 MLK Day of Service. Stream and park cleanups take place throughout the county beginning on Saturday, January 15, 2022, through Saturday, January 22, 2022.

Restaurant

12/19 Update: We were told by a klnb representative that Boston Market is no longer opened in Towne Plaza.

Boston Market will be opening a new Rockville Pike location, according to signage that has been put up at the old Katsu Go location in Towne Plaza (the shopping center that’s home to Navy Federal Credit Union and Bambu). The address is 12238 Rockville Pike Rockville, MD 20852. Boston Market previously had a location just a couple miles away– on Randolph Road in Loehmann’s Plaza. That location closed back in February of 2019 and has since been replaced by Toosso.


MoCoSnow

The Winter Weather Advisory has been extended until 1pm for Upper Montgomery County (Germantown, Clarksburg, Damascus, Poolesville, etc.).

Temperatures have gone a or freezing in most Central/SE MoCo locations, but will take a little longer to get there in upper Montgomery county, so the National Weather Service has extended the advisory.


MoCo

Harris Teeter, a grocery store chain based out of North Carolina with locations in the Mid-Atlantic and east coast states in the south, sent an email to customers letting them know that all store locations will be closing at 9pm starting Monday, January 10th:

Per the email, the change will be made to focus on restocking and cleaning stores.


MCFRS

A 2-alarm at 8800 Garland Ave off of Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring required approximately 85 firefighters, according to MCFRS PIO Pete Piringer.

The fire occurred on two levels of the 4-sorry garden style apartments and required multiple rescues as the fire was being extinguished in 15° temperatures.
