The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will implement periodic, temporary closures of the on-ramp from Oceanic Drive (Exit 32) to eastbound US 50/US 301 (John Hanson Highway) approaching the Chesapeake Bay Bridge beginning Friday, May 16, as part of its continuing efforts to improve traffic flow and safety during peak summer travel times in the Broadneck Peninsula in Anne Arundel County.

North Bethesda

McDonald’s is opening its newest restaurant at 11710 Rockville Pike in North Bethesda, located in the former Arby’s site, which closed its last Montgomery County location in May 2021. This location, which started construction last fall, appears to be part of McDonald’s new “On the Go” concept, which includes a smaller/limited lobby and focuses primarily on delivery and pick-up services.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced that it conducted a targeted operation in the Washington, D.C. area from May 6 to May 9, apprehending 189 individuals allegedly in the country illegally and issuing inspection notices to 187 local businesses. (more…)

Montgomery County Board of Education President Julie Yang and Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Superintendent Dr. Thomas Taylor have released a statement on an the announcement by County Council president Kate Stewart of a path forward to fun 99.8% of the MCPS budget for FY26.
