The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) has immediate openings for full-time and part-time Ride On bus operators.

The positions offer applicants 21-and-over paid CDL license training, a competitive benefits package and a fun, supportive atmosphere, with ongoing professional development opportunities.


MoCo

Montgomery Parks is hosting the department’s first-ever  Urban Wood Sale on Saturday, November 13, and Sunday, November 14, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Green Farm Maintenance Facility, 8301 Turkey Thicket Drive in Gaithersburg.

Each year, Montgomery Parks removes hundreds of hazardous dead and dying trees from the park system. Through the department’s Green Waste Recycling Program, some of the removed trees are turned into wood products that are reused within the parks department, such as mulch, compost, and lumber.


Bethesda

Each year, for the past 39 years, the YMCA Bethesda-Chevy Chase and the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rotary have teamed up to host an annual Turkey Chase Charity Race.

Prior to the pandemic, the event was run each year on Thanksgiving Day in Bethesda and was the largest 10K in Montgomery County. This year (as with last year,) the event will be virtual. Participants across the DMV region are invited to walk, run or bike on their own from Nov. 15 to Nov. 30.


DMV

As a D.C. suburb, Montgomery County plays a big role in helping make Washington D.C the 7th ranked “large sports city” in the country, according to a new report. While many have jumped ship on the Football Team, the Wizards fast start this season, and the recent success of the Capitals and Nationals has likely been helpful.

With NCAA athletes now able to make money from sponsorships using their name, likeness and image, potentially earning them thousands of dollars per year, the personal-finance website WalletHub released its report on 2021’s Best Sports Cities.


Gaithersburg

On November 9, 2021, the Board of Supervisors of Elections officially certified the winners of the Gaithersburg municipal election for Mayor & City Council as Jud Ashman for Mayor and Lisa E. Henderson & Jim McNulty for City Council.

The newly elected officials will be sworn in at a virtual special session of the Mayor & City Council on November 15, 2021, at 7:30 p.m. Click here to see viewing options. Each of these elected officials will serve a four-year term. The next municipal election for three City Council Members will take place on November 7, 2023.


Rockville

Kathy Kirk-Dantzler, manager of the city’s Rockville 11 television station, will become the City of Rockville’s director of communication, and Director of Communication and Engagement Marylou Berg will become assistant city manager, effective next month, City Manager Rob DiSpirito announced.

The reassignments, which take effect Wednesday, Dec. 1, are “for the purpose of better addressing current organizational needs and Mayor and Council priorities,” DiSpirito said.
