Colesville

Fryer‘s Roadside has taken over the old Chopaan Kabob House location in the Meadowood Shopping Center on New Hampshire Ave (the same strip as Dominic’s). The restaurant will offer farm-fresh fried chicken, hand-cut fries, coleslaw, fried rice, soft-serve ice cream, and snowballs.

Their sauces will all be made in-house and will feature mumbo sauce, a Memphis style hot sauce, and habanero sauce with the habanero and jalapeño peppers grown in the garden behind the restaurant. All of their rolls will come from nearby, and locally legendary, Woodmoor Bakery.


Maryland

No-Appointment Vaccinations Now Available at 9 Mass Vaccination Sites

Governor Larry Hogan today announced that Maryland has begun drive-thru, no-appointment vaccinations at the Six Flags America, Regency Furniture Stadium, and Ripken Stadium mass vaccination sites. Marylanders are now able to drive up to these sites for a vaccination without an appointment.

Update: In loving memory it’s co-founder and CEO, Philip G. Sardelis, all Sardi’s locations will be closed on Wednesday, May 5th to celebrate the impact he made on the community and celebrate his life.

We are saddened to report that Philip Sardelis, MoCo native and co-founder of Sardi’s, has passed away after battling Covid since early March. Philip was a 1991 graduate of Wheaton High School and along with his cousin, also named Philip Sardelis, dreamt of a place to bring their families to enjoy fresh food and fun together.


Silver Spring

Odessa Shannon Middle School (Currently E. Brooke Lee Middle School) Chooses New Colors and Mascot

Back in November, the Montgomery County Board of Education voted to change the name of Col. E. Brooke Lee Middle School in Silver Spring to Odessa Shannon Middle School.
