Bethesda

Every now and then I like to share personal stories that show how cool of a place MoCo truly is.

Montgomery County is home to four of the top 10 culturally diverse areas in the United States (according to WalletHub). 138 different languages are spoken in our public schools, 45% of businesses are minority-owned, 40% of residents speak a language other than English, and 1/3 of our residents are foreign born (including my parents).

Maryland

Governor Larry Hogan today announced that he is introducing the Universal School Start Act of 2020 requiring Maryland public schools to start after Labor Day.

According to the press release this will be “ending the mass confusion of having Maryland’s counties each starting on different dates. This mass confusion was created by the General Assembly’s actions in 2019, when it cynically overturned the governor’s popular executive order requiring that school start after Labor Day.”

Garrett Park

This morning we spoke with Brad Riddle, a broker at Greater Potomac Realty (a commercial real estate company with offices in Gaithersburg and Kensington), who let us know of Playa Bowls second MoCo location coming soon to Kensington.

Greater Potomac Realty has been working with Playa Bowls (Açaí Bowls, Pitaya, Coconut Bowls, smoothies, etc.) on opening locations in the DC area. Recently they have opened in Fairfax, VA (Mosaic District) and Potomac, MD (Cabin John Village).
