On October 15, 2024, what began as a routine school dismissal at Rolling Terrace Elementary School quickly turned into a harrowing moment that showcased extraordinary courage. As students were leaving for the day, a young child broke away from a parent and bolted toward the bus lane just as a bus was pulling out. In that split second, Jefferson Reyes, a fifth-grade member of the school’s safety patrol, reacted instantly– leaping into action to pull the child from harm’s way and likely saving a life.

Kensington

Construction is progressing at the upcoming Kensington Crossing shopping center, located at 10619 Connecticut Avenue (at Plyers Mill Road). A couple of years ago, a decision was made to rename the center to “Crossroads in Kensington,” and all five tenants have now signed on.

Crime

Four men, including Walter Barnes, 46, of Potomac, Maryland, who was the owner and president of PM Consulting Group LLC doing business as Vistant (Vistant), have pleaded guilty for their roles in a decade-long bribery scheme involving at least 14 prime contracts worth over $550 million in U.S. taxpayer dollars.

Kensington

Back in June 2023, we let you know that Marathon Deli signed on to open a new location at the upcoming Crossroads at Kensington shopping center on the corner of Connecticut Avenue and Plyers Mill Rd. The restaurant has received its permit to begin interior construction and could be ready to open later this year.

Ocean City, MD, offers a delightful array of treats. From the ice cream at Dumser’s Dairyland and Kohr Brothers to the mouthwatering donuts at Fractured Prune, not to mention the confections at Candy Kitchen and classic boardwalk funnel cakes, there’s something to satisfy every sweet tooth. Our team has sampled many local favorites over the years, and while all are delicious, we’ve found one that stands out as our top pick– or at least our favorite.
