Gaithersburg

The Montgomery County Planning Department, part of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, will hold an in-person community visioning session for the Great Seneca Plan: Connecting Life and Science on October 26 from 7 to 8 p.m. at Rosemont Elementary School (16400 Alden Avenue, Gaithersburg, MD 20877). During this visioning session, community members can provide ideas for the future of the Great Seneca area of the county, an area that borders the cities of Gaithersburg and Rockville, and includes the Universities at Shady Grove, Adventist Healthcare Shady Grove, and surrounding areas.

Planning staff will begin with a presentation about the planning process to date and share information about the plan area as it exists today. Afterwards, the community will engage in small group conversations about what they like about the area as it exists today and what they might hope to improve in a vision for the area’s future. Through the visioning session, the community can learn more about the plan and its goals and provide feedback on the strengths, opportunities, and challenges for the Great Seneca Plan area. RSVPs are encouraged. RSVP for the October 26 Community Visioning Session. All persons attending the community visioning session must be vaccinated and may be required to show proof of vaccination. We are about a month into fall and the colors around us are changing. Whether it’s the taste of a warm pumpkin-flavored latte, the cool breeze of a crisp fall morning, weekends full of football, or the yellow glow of the sun on a tall birch tree, autumn is often a contender for MoCo residents’ favorite season (however short it may be). Many locals are looking forward to combining all the best parts of fall and enjoying the foliage outdoors, so we’ve put together a small list of 10 where you can enjoy the foliage across the county:

Agricultural Reserve: A drive through the rural areas that the 93,000 acre Agricultural Reserve encompasses, along with the larger rural communities of Damascus and Poolesville and small crossroad communities such as Beallsville, Sunshine and Dickerson, are sure to give you your fill of fall foliage.

MoCo

On September 28th, Lone Oak Farm Brewing Company and The MoCoShow dropped their collaboration, bringing you MoCo Lite (3.8% ABV)– an American Pilsner that’s easy-drinking, extra pale, and very refreshing. […]

Beyond MoCo

Gordon Ramsay’s Fish & Chips has soft opened at 665 Water Street at the base of the Williams & Connolly building The Wharf in DC.  Originally, Ramsay planned on opening his Fish & Chips restaurant at 501 Seventh Street, Northwest, DC, but decided he would open a bottomless pizza restaurant there instead (coming soon). Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips was the second of his restaurants announced for The Wharf as the Michelin-starred Chef is also bringing his Hell’s Kitchen concept to The Wharf.

The fast casual Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips menu offers six different types of combos, including a fish, shrimp, and chicken combo, as well as fishwich, chickenwich, and fish & shrimp combo, ranging in price from $14.99-$18.99. You have the option to “hook it up” by adding either extra fish, shrimp or chicken ($3.99-$5.99). Each combo comes with your choice of two sauces, and you can choose between Gordon’s tartar, curry & mango, sriracha aioli, southwest ranch, dijon mayo, and cocktail sauce. Chips are also available on their own, either plain or in three different versions of “dirty chips.” For dessert you can choose either a sticky toffee shake or a biscoff shake. Alcoholic beverages (beer and wine) are also available for those 21+.

Restaurants

Things have been quiet at 1701 Rockville Pike # B1 in The Shops at Congressional Village (which was recently auctioned for $44 million), the site of Eerkin’s Uygher Cuisine, and that may be because the restaurant has signed on to open up down the street at the former Amici Miei location at 6 N Washington Street in the Courthouse Center in Rockville, according to the Federal Realty website. Eerkin’s is no longer listed as a tenant at The Shops at Congressional Village.

Courthouse Center, where Eerkin’s has signed on to open, was home to the recently closed Woodside Deli, and is currently home to East Dumpling House and Subway. An opening date is not currently available. Photo of Federal Realty’s site plan below. The news was first mentioned by The MoCo Source on Instagram.
