Raccoon Rescued After Climbing to 4th Floor in Silver Spring
Shortly before 10 AM on Monday May 3, Montgomery County Animal Services Officer Sarah Ogrin responded to the 8700 block of Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring where a raccoon had climbed up some wiring onto a ledge about 40 feet above the ground.
Downed Tree Damages Car, Snarls Beltway Traffic
Shortly before 9AM Sunday, a large tree fell down on the Inner Loop of the Beltway between River Road and Bradley Blvd.
Wednesday afternoon, Montgomery County Police received reports of a male threatening to harm himself in the area of Brighton Dam Road and Bordly Drive, between Georgia and New Hampshire Avenues.
A large number of Montgomery County Police and Maryland-National Capital Park Police units responded to the area to assist in the search. A Maryland State Police-Aviation Command helicopter assisted in the search. The situation was resolved peacefully shortly before 5PM Wednesday.

Shortly before 12PM Tuesday, a large volume of smoke was visible across Montgomery County, and was determined to be originating from the roof of the The Monterey Apartments on Montrose just west of Rockville Pike. The fire was determined to be originating from a rooftop HVAC unit. The actual volume of fire was small, confined to HVAC units.
In early May, Montgomery County Department of Transportation contractors will close the Mill Run Drive Pedestrian Tunnel under Shady Grove Road for approximately two weeks.
During this closure, contractors will repair and repaint the ceiling, walls, and railings in the tunnel. Crews will also complete lighting repairs. The contractor for this project is Burtonsville-based Colossal Contractors Inc.

Maryland State Highway Administration contractors are beginning a roadway reconfiguration project on a half-mile stretch of Jones Bridge Road in North Chevy Chase.
Driver Killed After US-29 Crash
Around 5:30 Monday morning, Montgomery County Police and Fire&Rescue responded to a crash on Northbound US-29 near Briggs Chaney Road. Responders arrived and transported the sole occupant from the single vehicle crash to a hospital where they were pronounced dead.
