Events

The Hometown Holidays festival will return to Rockville Town Center in May, featuring two days of local entertainment, food, shopping, and community activities, followed by the city’s annual Memorial Day Ceremony and Parade.

The festival, returning to its original location for the first time since 2019, will have a local, community-based focus with live music, artisan vendors, children’s activities, and food from local restaurants, while the Memorial Day Parade on May 26 will showcase over 60 groups celebrating the theme “Magic in America.”

Attorney General Anthony G. Brown and a coalition of 22 attorneys general won a preliminary injunction blocking the Trump administration’s illegal freeze on federal funding for states, nonprofits, and community programs. Rockville

The State Highway Administration approved Rockville’s request to lower the speed limit on First Street to 35 mph, with updated signage to be installed this month, while the city continues efforts to improve pedestrian safety through Vision Zero projects.

Planned improvements include temporary and permanent pedestrian refuge islands, traffic calming measures, and upcoming public meetings to discuss roadway enhancements and bicycle facilities. (more…)
