MCPD

UPDATE: MCPD found no active threats at Wheaton and Edison High schools. Lockdowns have been lifted at both schools.

Wheaton High School and Thomas Edison High School are both on lockdown Friday morning due to the report of an individual outside of the school campuses with a handgun.


Crime

Flavio Cesar Lanuza, the suspect who allegedly stole an MDOTSHA tow truck and led police on a chase through Prince George’s County and Montgomery County, pleaded guilty to multiple charges on Thursday. (more…)


Silver Spring

The Forest Estates Farmers Market at Getty Park in Silver Spring will relaunch for its 14th year on Sunday, September 15, with a bi-weekly schedule through November. Vendors include Common Root Farm, Bump ‘n Grind, The Mixing Bowl Bakery, Pizzeria CoCo, and Benchmark Sharpening. as well as a special appearance by Bike Werks for bike repairs on opening day.

The 2024 Taiwan Bubble Tea Festival will take place this Saturday, September 21st from 10am until 4pm at Rockville Town Square. The event is being held by Taiwan Sister Cities, an organization “dedicated to promoting, educating, and fostering intercultural understanding and cooperation among the people of the United States and the people of Taiwan.” (more…)
