Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a house fire on Birdseye Ct. in Germantown at approximately 1:40 PM on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.
Dawson’s Market, which announced last month that it would be permanently closing its location at 225 N. Washington St. in Rockville Town Square at the end of June, has revealed a new partnership with the Universities at Shady Grove. On Tuesday, June 18, 2024, the Montgomery County Council unanimously confirmed the appointment of Assistant Chief Marc Yamada to serve as the new chief of the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD).
A Maryland State Trooper was struck by a suspected impaired driver this morning while sitting inside his patrol vehicle, according to Maryland State Police.
Per the news release: The accused is identified as Nithya Ramani, 37, of Montgomery Village, Maryland. Ramani was charged with driving under the influence. She was the operator and sole occupant of a red Honda Accord involved in the crash. She was uninjured in the incident.
On May 2nd, the Montgomery County Animal Services & Adoption Center (MCASAC) announced it was closed to the public due to an outbreak of Canine Influenza (CIV). On Tuesday, Montgomery County announced that the shelter has reopened:dogs who contracted CIV have since recovered

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has announced that Terrence Green, the individual responsible for shooting Montgomery County Police Officer Kyle Olinger during a traffic stop in Silver Spring on August 13, 2003, has been denied parole. Green was sentenced to life in prison, plus twenty years, for his crime.
