Crime

Michael Brown of Suitland, Maryland, was arrested and charged with unlawfully discharging a firearm in a Silver Spring parking lot on November 3, 2024, after investigators identified him through surveillance footage and later found a loaded, unregistered handgun in his possession.

Crime

Two Silver Spring residents, 24-year-old Manuel Perez and 20-year-old Jonathan Cruz, were arrested and charged in connection with a series of wheel thefts spanning over two years. Following their initial arrest on March 4, investigators linked Perez to additional thefts dating back to December 2023, leading to a search of his residence where officers recovered a firearm and fentanyl pills; he later turned himself in on March 27 and now faces additional charges. Metrorail will open at 5 a.m. on Sunday, April 6, to provide early service for the Cherry Blossom 10-Mile race, with all lines running normal service and additional guidance for accessing the race start and finish locations.
