C-SPAN has announced the 2025 winners of its 21st annual StudentCam competition, recognizing students from Silver Spring, Bethesda, Potomac, Germantown, Rockville, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. Dermott Foley of Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring won the grand prize for his documentary on fentanyl overdose, while other students received second, third, and honorable mention prizes for topics such as affordable housing, climate change, and healthcare policies. Montgomery College

The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation has named 10 Montgomery College students among 467 semifinalists nationwide for its Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship, selected from over 1,600 applicants across 212 community colleges. The scholarship provides financial aid, academic advising, and career support to high-achieving community college students with financial need as they transfer to four-year institutions.

Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown announced a $39.1 million multistate settlement with generic drug manufacturer Apotex over allegations of price-fixing and limiting competition, with affected consumers eligible for compensation. The settlement is part of ongoing antitrust litigation against multiple pharmaceutical companies accused of conspiring to inflate drug prices, with Maryland joining nearly all U.S. states and territories in the legal action.

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) arrested five individuals during a retail theft operation at a Bethesda Safeway on March 20.
