This weekend, Nov. 18 -19, Metro crews will perform critical track work and make rail adjustments on a section of track between Foggy Bottom and Clarendon/Arlington Cemetery. Due to single tracking Metro will operate significantly reduced frequencies – every 26 minutes – on the Blue and Orange lines, with Silver Line service operating between Ashburn and Ballston only.

One of the highlights of this year’s festival is a large-scale chocolate sculpture of George Washington on horseback, created by award-winning chocolate artist Paul Joachim.
The sculpture will be part of a special exhibit exploring chocolate’s place in early American history. Guests can see the sculpture up close, sample colonial-style drinking chocolate, and shop the exclusive Collector’s Heritage Box inspired by the historic drink. It’s a unique opportunity to experience chocolate through art, history, and taste all in one place.
Visit the Sip & Share Seminar Classroom for educational sessions and demonstrations throughout the weekend, all included with your festival admission. Explore topics ranging from ancestral cacao in the Ecuadorian Amazon and the realities of starting a coffee business to craft chocolate and festival trivia. Learn directly from experts and makers as they share their knowledge, demonstrate their craft and offer a closer look at how their products are made.
The DMV Chocolate & Coffee Festival offers an experience the whole family can enjoy. Kids under 12 receive free admission with a ticketed adult and can get creative at our complimentary kids’ craft tables. Festival mascots Chunk & Bean will also be on-site for meet-and-greets and photo opportunities throughout the weekend. Families can even shop for Chunk & Bean plushies, children’s books and other kid-friendly items.

Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) superintendent, Dr. Michael Martirano, announced that he will be retiring from his position, effective January 10th, 2024. According to Metro Transit Police (MTPD), Mekhi Thomas, 23, of D.C., has been arrested in connection with an attempted rape that occurred aboard a Red line train on Thursday, November 16 in Silver Spring.
MTPD tweeted that Thomas was taken into custody and is being charged with attempted rape, assault, robbery, and several additional charges. Thomas is currently being held on without bond. We will provide an update if additional information becomes available.
Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Zabiya Carter, a missing 15-year-old from White Oak. Carter was last seen on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at approximately 7 p.m., in the 11230 block of Oak Leaf Dr. in White Oak. She is 5′, 130 lbs., with black hair, brown eyes and was last seen wearing a black hoodie and black and grey pajama pants. Carter is traveling with a small black and white puppy. (more…)
Per the State of Maryland: “Governor Wes Moore today launched new workforce development programs in the public sector and hospitality industry during the Maryland Department of Labor’s third annual Maryland Apprenticeship Awards ceremony. The event, which coincides with National Apprenticeship Week, recognized 32 winners across six categories: Registered Apprentice; Youth Apprentice; Mentor, Business; Local Workforce Board; and Apprenticeship Champion, in addition to naming five new Apprenticeship Ambassadors to the Governor’s Workforce Development Board.
