Over a year ago we let you know that Black Lion Café, which has a location in Rockville, will be opening a new location in the Fenton Silver Spring apartments at 8240 Fenton St in Silver Spring. Source of the Spring now reports that the cafe will open its new location on November 1st.

Thank you to our staff and families for continuing to test when they have symptoms or after a possible exposure, for using the online tool to report positive COVID-19 test results, and for following CDC isolation guidelines. Core health strategies like staying home when sick and good hand-washing are also important for limiting the spread of infection. As our schedules get busier, remember the basics—rest, good nutrition and staying active all help to keep students healthy and ready to learn.
From 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, guests are invited to enjoy giveaways from the Dunkin’ Prize Wheel, photo opportunities with Dunkin’ mascot Cuppy and more! At 10:00 AM, local Dunkin’ franchisee Jesse Luis of the Luis Group will host the store’s official ribbon cutting.
The new Next Gen restaurant offers Silver Spring a first-hand look at Dunkin’s enhanced store experience, with a ern look that provides a fresh, friendly, vibrant, and engaging environment.

The Great Frederick Fair begins today at 4pm at the Frederick Fairgrounds (797 E Patrick St) and will run through September 24. Entry to the fair is $10 and children 10 and under get in free. Special events include tractor pulls, a demolition derby, and concerts by Chris Tomlin (Sept. 16), Clay Walker (Sept. 17), and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts (Sept. 18). Fun Fact: Did you know that Joan Jett, the woman many refer to as the Queen of Rock & Roll, spent almost a decade of her life growing up in Randolph Hills and attended Wheaton High School? There will also be an I Love the 90’s concert on September 22 with performances by Vanilla Ice, Coolio, Tone Loc, Rob Base, Montell Jordan, and Young MC. Tickets for the concerts can be purchased here.
Per Montgomery County: In partnership with Montgomery County’s public safety departments, its Office of Human Resources will hold a two-session Public Safety Career Fair for job seekers 18-and-over on Saturday, Oct. 22, at the County’s Public Safety Training Academy in Gaithersburg. The County is seeking to fill more than 100 positions across the County’s public safety cluster.
The Public Safety Training Academy is located at 8751 Snouffer School Rd. in Gaithersburg. The Public Safety Career Fair will have a morning session from 9-11 a.m. and an afternoon session from 1-3 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to register in advance at www.montgomerycountymd.gov/JOBFAIR.
The Ninth Annual Harvest Moon Festival, which is a free, multicultural event of arts, entertainment and exhibitors, will be held on Veterans Plaza in Silver Spring from 1-7 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25. The celebration will have music and activities for all ages.

Per Montgomery County: The Montgomery County Department of Permitting Services (DPS) is reminding homeowners with septic systems about the importance of proper maintenance as the County recognizes the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s 10th anniversary of “Septic Smart Week” from Sept. 19-23.
A properly installed and operated septic system treats wastewater from a home (toilets, sinks, showers, baths, washing machines and dishwashing machines) and returns it to the groundwater.
