The Bethesda-based Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine, Inc. (HJF) is a global nonprofit that administers more than $500 million in medical research funds annually. For nearly 40 years, HJF has partnered with researchers and clinicians to provide bench to bedside to battlefield research support.

Today, HJF announced it received nearly $2M to support a study to evaluate treatment for volumetric muscle loss.

Rockville

Many questions remain unanswered after a teen suddenly died while walking at Montgomery College’s Rockville Campus Sunday night.

Around 10:30PM Sunday Night, members of the Rockville Volunteer Fire Department, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service, and Montgomery County Police responded to Montgomery College’s Rockville Campus (51 Mannakee Street). Responders found 1 teen critically injured and 1 EMS Provider was also injured on scene.

Gaithersburg

Earlier this week we let you know that construction started at Lapu Lapu, the sister restaurant of popular Rockville/North Bethesda/Kensington restaurant Kuya Ja’s Lechon Belly.

The restaurant recently announced a pop-up that’ll allow you to sample the breakfast sandwiches that’ll be served at the upcoming restaurant. It will take place this Sunday, January 23 from 11am until 3pm at Kuya Ja’s (5268-H Nicholson Lane) for takeout or delivery, as dine-in is not currently being offered.


Bethesda

Bethesda’s Mytonomy, a leader in enterprise cloud solutions for video-based patient engagement, experience, and healthcare microlearning education, is launching its own channel on the Roku® platform.

In a press release from Thursday, January 13th, Mytonomy stated that it would be making it easy for healthcare systems to close gaps in care and transition patients from hospital to home through its streaming app available on the Roku platform.

Moe’s Southwest Grill at 19222 Montgomery Village Ave in the Montgomery Village Shopping Center will hold it’s grand opening today, February 3, at 11:30am.

Moe’s is taking over the former space occupied by the MV Animal Hospital. The hospital has moved right down the road to 19243 Watkins Mill Rd.

Elpiscience is a Shanghai, China and Germantown, MD-based clinical stage biopharmaceutical company focused on innovating and developing next-generation immunotherapy to benefit cancer patients worldwide. This morning Elpiscience announced that its first patient was does in the US Phase I clinical trial of Anti-CD39 monoclonal antibody ES002 for treatment of advanced solid tumors.

Earlier this month, Dr. John Craighead was announced as chief financial officer effective on Jan. 4th 2022. Craighead will lead all finance and corporate development functions for the company.
