Giant Food has signed on to open at the Orchard Center on Cherry Hill Rd in Calverton, according to a report from the Washington Business Journal. Per the report, the Landover-based grocery chain has signed a lease for the roughly 64,626-square-foot ShopRite space at 12028 Cherry Hill Rd. ShopRite closed back in February of 2020 year and Aldi opened in the shopping center later that year in October.
Larry Hurd, current head coach of the Walter Johnson High School football team, will be inducted into the Quince Orchard High School hall of fame this evening.
Hurd, who attended Quince Orchard from 1988-1992, was a member of the state championship winning football team in 1991.

WDVM is reporting that authorities in Montgomery County are investigating a hit and run that occurred Thursday morning around 3am near Pike & Rose.
According to Chief Spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Pete Piringer, the incident happened near 11500 Rockville Pike and the victim was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.
