The Montgomery County Committee Against Hate and Violence invites the community to the eighth Montgomery County Friendship Picnic will take place Sunday, Sept. 19 from 12 – 5 p.m. at the Wheaton Regional Park located at 2000 Shorefield Road. Starting today, the Maryland Department of Transportation has activated 18 ramp meters along I-270 South. Full details below on what to expect below courtesy of MDOT:
Ramp metering is a part of the I-270 Innovative Congestion Management (ICM) project designed to help reduce congestion on this busy interstate. The system uses sensors that detect real-time traffic conditions and activate traffic signals, when needed, to more efficiently control how traffic merges onto I-270. This will allow motorists to merge safely onto I-270 while minimizing delay and reducing congestion. When ramp metering is in operation:

Student Struck in Hit and Run in Front of Montgomery Village Middle School, Minor Injuries Reported
A student was struck at the intersection of Watkins Mill Rd and Centerway Rd in front of Montgomery Village Middle School on Tuesday around 3:15pm as students were leaving for the day. Police and first responders arrived a short time after and took the student to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
