MoCo Government

The Montgomery County Council will meet Tuesday, July 15 to present proclamations, introduce a renewable energy bill, and vote on multiple items. These include hiring preferences for displaced federal workers, new rules for unlicensed entertainment events, and changes to water and sewer service. The Council will also hold public hearings, interview a nominee for Public Information Director, and consider a resolution supporting 14 early voting centers.

Silver Spring

The community is rallying to support the family of 18-year-old Montgomery Blair High School student Kevin Moreno-Descansando, who passed away on Saturday, July 12 after a courageous battle with terminal cancer.

A GoFundMe has been created to help Kevin’s family cover funeral expenses and provide support during this difficult time.

The Gaithersburg Police Department is investigating an attempted burglary at Rich Soles, a sneaker boutique on North Frederick Avenue, early Monday morning, after unknown suspects tried but failed to break in through the front door. (more…)

Olney

Back in March 2023 we let you know that the 100-year old building that is home to the Olney Ale House was sold to Two Sibs LLC, led by Selim Kantar, for $1.45 million. More than two years later, restaurant management tells us that the hope is to open by the end of the summer.
