The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has charged two 20-year-olds from Chevy Chase and a juvenile from Silver Spring with armed robbery and related offenses after they allegedly robbed four juveniles at gunpoint and attempted to force them to withdraw more money at an ATM on April 21, 2025, before fleeing when a police vehicle approached.

Attorney General Anthony G. Brown and a coalition of 20 other attorneys general obtained a preliminary injunction blocking the Trump administration’s plan to dismantle the U.S. Department of Education, including mass layoffs and service transfers, arguing the move was unlawful without congressional approval.

The Maryland Attorney General and Secretary of State issued a cease and desist order against DMV Futures, Inc., a Baltimore-based charity, for alleged misuse of charitable funds and using children for unsupervised door-to-door solicitation without providing the promised programs or benefits.

Lead ‘Em Up, a nationally recognized leadership organization founded in Montgomery County in 2015, hosts an annual celebration honoring 13 student-athletes who receive the prestigious Green 13 award. This accolade is awarded to those who have demonstrated exemplary character and leadership. This year, four of the 13 recipients hail from Montgomery County, while the remaining nine are spread across the country.
