According to Maryland Lottery and Gaming, Maryland’s six casinos combined to generate $158,122,302 in revenue from slot machines and table games during November 2024, an increase of $403,808 (0.3%) compared to November 2023. Casino gaming contributions to the state during November 2024 totaled $68,879,589, an increase of $2,729,307 (4.2%) compared to November 2023. The November 2024 contributions included $49,682,786 to the Education Trust Fund, an increase of $1,955,224 (4.2%) compared to November 2023.

Maya Eaglin, who is a digital reporter at NBC and a co-host of NBC’s Gen Z Snapchat show “Stay Tuned”, has made the 2025 Forbes 30 Under 30 list in the Media category. She’s also a Montgomery County native and 2015 graduate of James Hubert Blake High School in Silver Spring.

Gaithersburg

Quincy’s in Gaithersburg, located at 616 Quince Orchard Rd. in Quince Orchard Plaza, will be showing the Maryland 4A State Championship football game on the big screen on Friday night. The game, featuring the Quince Orchard Cougars and Wise Pumas, will take place Friday night at 7:30pm.

Escape the Bookshop games are always based on a real crime with connections to the DC region. They are designed and built by HouseMouse Books to be played in our atmospheric bookshop. This latest game was inspired by a true local museum theft and the goal is simple – to find the stolen object before the suspect flees the country!

Bowlero Corporation announced earlier this week that it will be rebranding to Lucky Strike Entertainment, effective December 12, 2024. As a part of this rebrand, Bowlero Corporation will also change its legal name to Lucky Strike Entertainment Corporation and its stock ticker symbol from NYSE: BOWL to NYSE: LUCK, further emphasizing the brand’s evolution.

MCPD

On December 4, 2024, the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) led a multi-agency traffic safety initiative along MD Route 355, focusing on aggressive driving, pedestrian safety, distracted driving, seat belt compliance, and impaired driving.  The operation, involving approximately 60 officers, resulted in 382 traffic stops, 165 citations, 330 warnings, 19 repair orders, two impaired driving arrests, and enhanced pedestrian and commercial vehicle safety enforcement efforts.
