Spirit Halloween opened its first Montgomery county location at 30 Grand Corner Ave. in Gaithersburg’s Rio Lakefront in August this year. Its second of three total planned locations, in Rockville, has been postponed until October according to the Spirit Halloween website.

The Gaithersburg Mayor and City Council approved on Thursday evening the plan for the redevelopment of the site that was the longtime home of Lakeforest Mall. Jud Ashman wrote on Friday that “Last night was a pretty historic one for the City of Gaithersburg. We voted to approve a redevelopment plan for the Lakeforest property.”

The Maryland Attorney General’s Office has announced that Michael K. Hines pleaded guilty to illegal poaching after harvesting a trophy deer during closed season, receiving $5,000 restitution, 80 hours of community service, and a $1,000 fine as ordered by the Frederick County Circuit Court. (more…)
The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has announced “MoCoConnect,” a community camera sharing program that allows residents and businesses to register or integrate their security cameras with the police to aid in crime prevention and investigations, has gained over 500 participants.
