Just Chicken, which opened its only Maryland location as one of the founding concepts at Solaire Social (located on the ground floor of the Solaire 8200 apartments at 8200 Dixon Ave in Silver Spring), has closed after approximately four months according to a Source of the Spring report.

According to District 3 Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) Commander Jason Cokinos, MCPD officers arrested a suspect in Silver Spring after discovering a loaded gun, drugs, and fake license plates during a proactive traffic stop following a suspected drug deal. (more…)


Gaithersburg

The Gaithersburg Mayor and City Council approved on Thursday evening the plan for the redevelopment of the site that was the longtime home of Lakeforest Mall. Jud Ashman wrote on Friday that “Last night was a pretty historic one for the City of Gaithersburg. We voted to approve a redevelopment plan for the Lakeforest property.”

Beyond MoCo

The Maryland Attorney General’s Office has announced that Michael K. Hines pleaded guilty to illegal poaching after harvesting a trophy deer during closed season, receiving $5,000 restitution, 80 hours of community service, and a $1,000 fine as ordered by the Frederick County Circuit Court. The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has announced “MoCoConnect,” a community camera sharing program that allows residents and businesses to register or integrate their security cameras with the police to aid in crime prevention and investigations, has gained over 500 participants.

A Montgomery County jury found Keith Delcid-Palacios, 25, guilty of second-degree murder and other charges for the 2021 shooting death of Martin Nolan and the attempted shooting of another victim; he faces life in prison plus 130 years at his sentencing on November 7, 2024. (more…)
