Eastern Shore foliage has hit its peak for the season, bringing most of the state except for parts of Washington, Allegany, and Garrett Counties in Western Maryland (past peak) in peak foliage this fall, according to the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (MDNR).

HONORING THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF 9/11
Newly announced, the festival will open on Friday evening, September 11, with a special tribute honoring the 25th anniversary of 9/11. All three bands performing that evening include veterans and active-duty military members.
Be sure to visit Old Fireman’s BBQ Food Truck and meet a firefighter who was on-site at the Pentagon on that fateful day. We are offering special pricing for first responders and military.

Taking place alongside the Maryland Seafood Festival, Skipjack Heritage Days invites families to discover the stories and traditions of the Chesapeake Bay through hands-on activities, educational exhibits and public sails aboard historic skipjacks.
The weekend culminates with a Sunday skipjack race that guests can watch from the festival grounds at East Beach. Skipjacks are living history and icons of our region—this is a rare opportunity to experience them up close.

This past summer we shared that two Maryland restaurants (the top two) were included in a list of the “Best Crab Cakes in the U.S.” by Food & Wine magazine. Jonathan Mohelski, 39, of Rockville, was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter for the 2021 stabbing death of his friend, Brandon Sutherland, after a retrial in Montgomery County Circuit Court, and faces up to ten years in prison with sentencing yet to be scheduled. (more…)

Dominique Moore, 46, of Montgomery Village, pled guilty to six counts of child neglect for his six minor children in Montgomery County Circuit Court, facing a maximum of 30 years in prison, with a sentencing hearing set for February 5, 2025. His wife, Cynthia Moore, was recently convicted of the same charges and is scheduled for sentencing on January 22, 2025, following their arrests related to the death of their 17-year-old child in unsafe living conditions.(more…)
