Popeyes is Coming to Downtown Silver Spring
Popeyes will be taking over the space that was left vacant by Bombay Gaylord in 2015 after a fire destroyed the restaurant. The owners of Bombay Gaylord opened Nirvana Indian Cuisine in Olney in late 2018.
In an August listing by Thur Retail, the second level of the building located at 8401 George Avenue is available for lease. The listing states that anyone interested would be joining Popeyes, who will be taking over the first floor.
We stopped by last week and there is no sign of construction yet, but everything seems ready to go.
The popular Quarry House Tavern can be found in the basement the building.

I feel so bad for Quarry House. This is a an absolutely shameful addition to downtown Silver Spring retail.
I don’t get it; how does this negatively impact QH?
Hey which chicken place would you’ve preferred, in Silver Spring?
A Bojangles, duh.
How will I be able to drink beer and eat burgers knowing somewhere above me fried chicken is being consumed? This is a catastrophe!
How does a restaurant above you negatively impact your ability to drink beer and eat burgers? Maybe you should try that incredibly popular chicken sandwich at Popeyes. Just a suggestion!
