Zimmerman’s Hardware in Burtonsville Has Been Sold

Per the Aubuchon Company: Craig Zimmerman, James Dillon, Ronald Zimmerman, and Gary Zimmerman have agreed to sell Zimmerman’s Hardware in Burtonsville, MD to the Aubuchon Company, the oldest and largest family-owned hardware store chain in America. Following the closing early this year, the Aubuchon Company will operate 111 stores in 9 states.

“Since 1985, Zimmerman’s in Burtonsville has been a destination for customers in Montgomery, Howard, and Prince George counties,” said William E. Aubuchon, IV, President & CEO. “I admire their strong offering of hardware, decking, and power equipment, but what really stands out is their long-standing commitment to the absolute best customer service.”

“Having a wonderful team to help us grow the business has meant the world to us. Over the years, many of those team members have grown to feel like family and are still with us today,” said Ron Zimmerman. “Our father, Roy Zimmerman, started it all in 1978 when he opened his first hardware store in Silver Spring, MD. His mission was to build a strong and friendly relationship with our customers and staff. We have followed that mission to this day,” added Gary Zimmerman.

“As we venture into the next stages in our lives, we’ve decided to sell the business. We didn’t want to just sell it to anyone. We wanted to find the best fit for what our customers and staff have grown to expect and a business that really cares. We are very excited to announce that we have found another family business that cares about our mission. Aubuchon Hardware has been operating since 1908 in the New England area, and they own over 100 stores from Maine to Virginia. They will be a wonderful fit to take over the business, and we are so excited to see how it grows and evolves,” added Craig Zimmerman.

The store will continue to operate as Zimmerman’s Hardware, and Ron will continue to be involved as a member of the Aubuchon Company team. “We’ll soon be officially welcoming the Zimmerman’s team to the Aubuchon family. We work hard, care for each other, and have fun,” said Aubuchon. “We couldn’t be more excited to carry on the Zimmerman’s legacy!”
