MRP Realty and Prime Finance Special Situations have acquired the Bethesda Crescent office portfolio, a four-property collection totaling 287,529 square feet in downtown Bethesda, on August 11, 2025. BizJournals reports the sale was for “$28 million through a foreclosure after affiliates of Brookfield Properties defaulted on their loan. The sale price is about a third of the $76 million loan the Brookfield entities took out against them in 2021.”

U.S. District Court Judge Theodore D. Chuang sentenced Dr. Anissa Maroof, 48, of Potomac, Maryland, to 15 months in federal prison and two years of supervised release for illegally distributing and dispensing controlled substances through her Bethesda medical practice between 2019 and 2022. Residents of Bethesda got a glimpse into the future of transportation recently, as a Waymo self-driving car was spotted charging at an EVgo station in the Westbard area. While Waymo, Google’s autonomous vehicle subsidiary, has publicly announced its plans to expand to the Washington DC market with a potential full launch in 2026, its presence in suburban Maryland suggests a more expansive regional strategy is already underway (video of the experience below).
