A new era for events in downtown Bethesda officially begins today with the grand opening of The Cordell, a modern and versatile event space located at 4865 Cordell Ave. Previously home to beloved establishments like Grapeseed and Lucy Ethiopian Restaurant, The Cordell aims to fill a distinct need for a centrally located, design-forward venue in the heart of the community.

Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School (B-CC) is undergoing a leadership transition as Principal Dr. Shelton Mooney has made the decision to step down and has accepted a new role within Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS), according to a letter sent to the B-CC community. Dr. Mooney will be moving to James Hubert Blake High School to serve as an assistant principal, a change from an earlier communication that had placed him at Albert Einstein High School.

King Arthur Baking Company at the Shops at Wildwood, located at 10207 Old Georgetown Rd has announced it will hold its grand opening on Saturday, August 2. This space, formerly home to Indigo Octopus until June 28th, will mark King Arthur Baking’s first location in Maryland. Indigo Octopus is relocating to Bethesda Row.

The newest location will take over the storefront previously occupied by The Charmery, which closed last month after two years in business. Landon School, located at 6101 Wilson Ln. in Bethesda, recently shared that Jim Neill has decided to step down as Head of School following the 2025-2026 academic year. The Board of Trustees and the Head of School Search Committee announced that Dr. Andrew “Andy” Martire will join Landon School as our next Head of School beginning July 1, 2026. Martire shared, “”I’m truly honored to have the opportunity to lead Landon School. It is a school that has rich and meaningful traditions, and at the same time a commitment to excellence in educating boys.”
