According to Variety, Maryland native Jon Bernthal will reprise his role as Frank Castle, aka The Punisher, in Sony and Marvel’s upcoming film Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Bernthal first took on the role in Netflix’s Daredevil and later starred in The Punisher. He recently returned in Daredevil: Born Again and is set to headline a 2026 Disney+ special directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green. (more…)


Four men, including Walter Barnes, 46, of Potomac, Maryland, who was the owner and president of PM Consulting Group LLC doing business as Vistant (Vistant), have pleaded guilty for their roles in a decade-long bribery scheme involving at least 14 prime contracts worth over $550 million in U.S. taxpayer dollars.

Westland Middle School, located at 5511 Massachusetts Ave. in Bethesda, will be closed on Monday, June 16, following significant damage caused by a downed tree. The removal of the tree has necessitated the closure of several classrooms, and operations for Tuesday have not yet been determined. A message went out to the Westland community on Sunday night:

According to The Burn, Pura Vida will be opening its first DC-area location in Fairfax, VA, with its first Maryland location coning to Potomac’s Cabin John Village shopping center.

According to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office, 18-year-old Nicholas Blanco of Bethesda, a student at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School, was sentenced to four years in prison, with all but 11 months suspended, and three years of probation upon release. (more…)


Daniel Stern, best known for his role as Marv Murchins, one half of the infamous “Sticky Bandits” duo alongside Joe Pesci, has deep roots in the Bethesda community. He grew up in Bethesda and attended Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School, where he appeared in several theater productions.
