The Proper Burger from Duke’s Grocery has been voted the “Best Burger in DC” for the 10th consecutive year in Washington City Paper’s ‘Best of DC.’ Duke’s Grocery opened its first Maryland location in Potomac this past April and has five additional locations in DC (video of the experience below).

The Washington Commanders officially dropped the “Redskins” moniker in 2020 amid public pressure and concerns that the name was offensive to Native Americans. They played as the Washington Football Team for two seasons before rebranding as the Washington Commanders in 2022. The current owner, Josh Harris, has stated there are no plans to revert to the old name, but that hasn’t stopped President Donald Trump from weighing in, stating this morning that a change back to Redskins should occur “IMMEDIATELY.”

Von Miller has signed with the Washington Commanders, according to Tom Pelissero. “Eight-time Pro Bowl OLB Von Miller is signing with the #Commanders, sources tell The Insiders. Miller has won Super Bowls with the #Broncos and #Rams. Now he’ll try to earn another ring in Washington.” Miller also broke the news on his Instagram account with the caption, “DC… What’s Good??”

The Washington DC area is on the radar for Cosm Inc., the innovative immersive entertainment company, as it seeks a site for its next “Shared Reality” venue. The Washington Business Journal is reporting that Cosm is actively looking for a significant footprint, targeting 40,000 to 80,000 square feet, with a preference for locations near existing major sports venues. While Southeast DC is being eyed, the company remains open to other possibilities within the metropolitan area.

Ben’s Chili Bowl on U Street in Washington, DC, will temporarily close at midnight on Monday, July 14, 2025, for the first major repairs in over 60 years, with plans to reopen in November. The updates aim to preserve the building’s historic character, and a temporary pop-up will serve customers across the street during the closure.

Six people, including Toyia Johnson of Rockville, were found guilty in connection with a 2021 Labor Day weekend triple homicide in Washington, D.C., that left three people dead and three others injured. The Washington Commanders are generating significant excitement regarding their alternate jerseys, particularly for the 2025 season. Multiple reliable sources, including local sports insider Kevin Sheehan, strongly suggest the team will introduce alternate uniforms next year that evoke their classic burgundy and gold aesthetic from the pre-Commanders rebrand era, specifically resembling the post-Redskins Washington Football Team’s look. Now, a report states that the new alternate jerseys and helmets will be unveiled on July 9th.

Ramen by Uzu, renowned for being one of the best ramen restaurants in the area according to The Washington Post, has expanded from its original location inside Union Market to include an additional location at 3210 Grace St NW in Georgetown. Chef Hiro Mitsui, the culinary mind behind Uzu and a resident of Silver Spring, has expressed his ambition to open a location in Montgomery County soon.
