Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown has announced that former dentist Seyed Hamid Tofigh, who previously defrauded the Medicaid program and practiced dentistry without a license, was sentenced to 18 months in jail for violating his probation by attempting to return to dentistry using a fake license and leaving home detention without approval. Takoma Park Police writes, “These tips are not intended to scare or frighten anyone, however, crime is a fact of life everywhere. As partners, we can discourage criminals from targeting certain areas. We can make it hard for them. Let’s make a difference together. The Metro Transit Police Department (MTPD) is searching for a suspect involved in a stabbing at the Silver Spring Transit Center that occurred Thursday night.
On August 28, 2024, at approximately 12:04 am, Takoma Park Police responded to the 1000 block of University Boulevard in response to a reported assault.
On August 24, 2024, at approximately 2:50 pm, Takoma Park Police responded to the 7400 block of New Hampshire Avenue following a report of an armed robbery that had occurred earlier in the day involving a fake $1,000 winning ticket.
Montgomery County Police are investigating a homicide that occurred Thursday morning on Southlawn Lane in Rockville.
Update: The double shooting on Southlawn Lane is now being investigated as a homicide.
