Dimas Gonzalo Contreras-Nolasco, a 54-year-old Mexican national, has pleaded guilty to illegally re-entering the United States after previously being deported in 2005.
Multiple illegal car rallies were broken up in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties early Saturday as part of a coordinated enforcement operation by the Maryland Car Rally Task Force, resulting in three arrests, including a Silver Spring man charged with multiple traffic offenses.
On Sunday evening, the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office announced that Catherine Ashley Hoggle, 38, of Clarksburg, had been indicted by a Montgomery County Grand Jury on two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of her children, Sarah and Jacob Hoggle. For nearly three decades, a series of brutal sexual assaults and one murder haunted Montgomery County and the Washington DC metropolitan area. The perpetrator, known to law enforcement and the public as the “Potomac River Rapist,” was active from 1991 to 1998, leaving a trail of fear and unsolved cases. The mystery was finally brought to an end in 2019, thanks to advances in DNA technology and a collaborative cold case investigation, leading to the arrest of Giles Daniel Warrick. Warrick later died while awaiting trial.
James Lorenzo Greene, 49, of Fairmount Heights, was sentenced in Montgomery County Circuit Court to 23 years in prison for a 2000 first-degree rape in Montgomery Village, identified through a DNA match in a 23-year cold case investigation. He will also serve five years of supervised probation upon release and must register as a sex offender for life.
