On Thursday evening in Montgomery County’s Circuit Court, Judge Jill Cummins sentenced defendant, Cynthia Moore, 42, of Montgomery Village, to 30 years in prison suspending all but 21 years to serve and five years of supervised probation upon release after Moore was previously convicted on six counts of child neglect.
According to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office, Neel Patel, 24, of Carol Stream, Illinois, pleaded guilty in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County before Judge Sharon Burrell to one count of theft over $100,000 and one count of conspiracy to commit theft over $100,000. (more…)

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has provided new details about the arrest of two individuals after a drug transaction, during which one suspect attempted to escape by ramming a police vehicle and was found with over two pounds of marijuana and a stolen handgun.

Justin Riggs, 35, of Smithsburg, Maryland, who was serving as a Maryland State Trooper, pleaded guilty yesterday to federal charges of Conspiracy to Distribute and Conspiracy to Possess with the Intent to Distribute Controlled Dangerous Substances, Use of a Communication Facility in Causing or Facilitating the Conspiracy to Distribute Controlled Dangerous Substances, and Travel Act-State of Maryland Bribery.
