On Saturday, Nov. 15, and Sunday, Nov. 16, Metro will close Bethesda station to support Maryland Department of Transportation’s activities to advance Purple Line construction. Free shuttle buses will replace Red Line trains between Friendship Heights and Medical Center all weekend.

MoCoSnow is continuing to monitor and compare winter forecasts from the major local television stations. So far, we’ve looked at  FOX 5, and NBC4. WUSA9 meteorologist Topper Shutt and the weather team has released their winter outlook for the 2025–2026 season, offering a prediction that places much of the region, including Montgomery County, near or slightly above average snowfall.

Spirit will host fourth straight playoff sellout crowd when it takes on Portland Thorns FC in Saturday’s semifinal

The Washington Spirit has sold out its home semifinal match in record time, the club announced today. Less than three days after announcing the date and time for its upcoming semifinal against Portland Thorns FC, all seats at Audi Field have been sold.


As we do every year, our MoCoSnow team summarizes and compares some of the most popular winter outlooks before the winter season begins. NBC4 Chief Meteorologist Doug Kammerer has released his 2025-2026 Winter Outlook, calling for a colder-than-average season with above-normal snowfall across the D.C. region. His forecast puts most of Montgomery County in the 18-30 inch range, with Frederick and areas north/west in Maryland possibly seeing 26-40 inches, and Washington, D.C. and areas south in the 13-20 inch range.

The Washington Commanders are making a significant in-season adjustment on defense as head coach Dan Quinn will assume play-calling duties beginning this week. The move comes amid a wave of poor play and defensive injuries that have tested the team’s depth and continuity.
