The AFC and NFC Championship games will be played this Sunday and for the first time in over 30 years our home team, the Washington Commanders, will be competing in the NFC Championship for the chance to make it to the Super Bowl. Xiao Qi Ji, Mei Xiang and Tian Tian left the National Zoo more than a year ago, and ursine admirers were left wondering when or if pandas would ever return. Well, on Friday, Bao Li (male) and Qing Bao (female), a pair of three-year old pandas, make their public debut (more photos below).

Sunday’s storm didn’t bring as much as forecasted by most for the immediate area, but has left a few neighborhood streets and sidewalks slushy. The bitter cold in the morning along with the potential for anything wet or slushy to freeze may cause some school systems to have a delayed opening.
An additional Cold Weather Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS). The initial Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect from 7pm this evening until 10am tomorrow. The additional advisory goes into effect at 10pm on Tuesday until 10am Thursday.
