A Winter Storm Watch has been issued, in effect from Sunday evening through late Monday night. The National Weather Service (NWS) has also updated its projected snow totals to show 6-8” for a good portion of the area, with sprinkled in areas of 8-12”.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has released its first set of expected snowfall maps for the upcoming storm this Monday.
We are now within 72 hours and it still looks like we have pretty solid snow storm heading our way. I would expect a Winter Storm Watch to be issued this evening after the advisory ends at 7pm. A Winter Storm Warning then becomes very possible as we get closer to the event, which is expected to take place late Sunday and Monday.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 7pm Friday evening. The advisory has expanded to include additional counties.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has an elevated snow risk for the entire area Sunday night into Monday, stating that there is “increasing confidence in regards to the potential for travel impacts & closures.”
While we’ve been focusing on the potential for a larger winter storm on Monday, there’s a chance for a quick burst of snow on Friday afternoon that could have an impact on the evening commute. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Frederick, Howard, and Carroll counties from 1pm-7pm on Friday.
